Emu Farming may be the next Big Thing for Health Benefits

An Emu is a big and tall two-legged bird that can't fly - and considered a pest. However it might be coming into the public eye as its oil may become something you see on the store shelves.

Before, in 1996, there were about 500 Emu farmers across Australia (some having thousands of birds). While it sounds good on paper with their leather, lean red meat, and large eggs, Emu's lay 25 eggs a year; this combined with the expensive equipment and infrastructure meant that soon enough equipment was being put into storage. The Bird Flu scare didn't help.

Now there are only 12 Emu farms in Australia.
